New Publication: "The complexity of financial wellness"

We're excited to share that Dr. John R.J. Thompson and MSc student Jesse Ghashti recently presented the paper "The complexity of financial wellness: examining survey patterns via kernel metric learning and clustering of mixed-type data" at the International Conference on AI in Finance.

As Dr. Thompson explains, "Financial advisors must understand clients' primary stressors to provide tailored advice. In this study, we used kernel metric learning and distance-based clustering on responses to questions from the 2022 National Payroll Institute's Financial Wellness Survey, identifying two clusters for financial stress: 'steady savers' and 'financial strivers.'"
